Dire wolves are an ancient species of wolf that lived in forests before humans. They are the precursors to modern wolves. They are common in most galaxies.

Description

The dire wolf resembles the common grey wolf, but larger. Its build is more heavily built and it has shorter and sturdier legs since it needs to fight more dangerous predators and some prey animals such as bison. They tend to be at the fiercest during the breeding season.

In some worlds, dire wolves can be tamed and used as mounts by experienced animal Trainers and thiriokinetics (animal manipulators). Trying to tame a dire wolf without necessary training can result in death to the person involved.

Abilities

They have no magical power unless enchanted. Dire wolves hunt in packs like normal wolves and thus can take down larger prey. They use their claws and fangs to defend themselves against larger animals.
